Welcome to the Telecommunications Program at the School of Information Sciences

Dr.Tipper with studentsOur program is designed to give you the technical skills and theoretical knowledge you need to build a successful career in this dynamic field.

At SIS, you’ll find challenging classes in leading edge topics such as application development for mobile devices, intelligent networks, distributed multi-media systems, and network security and cryptography.  You’ll have the opportunity to study and do research with our world class faculty, many of whom conduct research projects funded by prestigious organizations such as the National Science Foundation.  We believe that research and teaching must be closely linked, so that future researchers and teachers will gain critical experience in development and research techniques.  Whether you’re in our Master’s or PhD programs, you can participate in research opportunities.

With a Master’s Degree, graduates will find challenging positions as:

 • research and development engineers

 • network engineers

 • customer-support engineers

 • network analysts

 • communications analysts

 • network administrators

 • managers of network engineering

 • consultants

 • telecommunications analysts

 • systems engineers

Graduates with a Master’s in Telecommunications are much sought after by industry, government, healthcare, education, and the non-profit sector.  Employers are looking for professionals who can design, build and manage complex, multi-vendor telecommunications systems.
